Terrible news this morning as Real Madrid confirmed that Xabi Alonso has fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. It is believed that Xabi will unfortunately be out for another 2-3 months.
This is a huge blow for Real Madrid and Alonso, as he was just getting back to being 100% from a groin injury he sustained last season. Luka Modric is officially our midfield benchmark as Asier Illarramendi’s time to step up is now. He was looked at as a replacement for when Xabi Alonso retires and now, his time has come. We would like to send out our thoughts and prayers to Xabi in hope of a speedy recovery.
