Ahhhh, Twitter, Twitter, Twitter. Something so great can turn into something so terrible.
We all know how Twitter works - one tweet can turn the universe upside down as rumors spread like wildfire.
Yesterday, rumors were flying around that Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Manchester on his private jet -ofcourse, fueling speculation that the Portuguese superstar was in talks with United about a potential return. It was reported that Pat Crerand, former Man United player and current Manchester United TV reporter, said that he indeed knows for a fact that Cristiano arrived in Manchester via his private jet.
This is the same Pat Crerand that said Fergie wouldn’t retire anytime soon, yet the legendary coach retired the day he said that. There it started - the rapid wildfire around the twitter universe as Cristiano was looking forward to a return to Old Trafford. NOT so fast though. Everyone likes a good storyline and immediately jumps to conclusions. People seemed to forget that Cristiano was in fact in Portugal, for international duty. We all know the superstar & superman qualities Cristiano has, but to be in 2 places at once? Come on, Cristiano isn’t that great.

It later turned out that Pat Crerand, the Man Utd reporter, did not infact say himself that Cristiano had arrived in Manchester - a caller actually proclaimed his “sightings”. The twitter world blew up so bad that the official Manchester airport twitter page (@manairport) sent out a tweet saying: “For those asking, we haven’t seen Christiano today!” - spelling ‘Cristiano’ wrong.
Unfortunately, silly rumors such as these will continue until Cristiano signs that renewal with Real Madrid. Florentino, what are you waiting for?
