ALEX FERGUSON was away on transfer business as his captain Nemanja Vidic made his long-awaited comeback from injury.
The Manchester United boss stayed at home as he closes in on £30million-rated Brazil star Lucas Moura.
But he would have been delighted to see his Serbian centre-back come through an hour after eight months out with a knee injury.
Vidic said: “It went well, it was a good test. The knee felt good and hopefully over the next few games I’ll get better and better.”
England’s Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck made their first appearance of the season but drew a blank against the Norwegians.
Welbeck twice went closest to breaking the deadlock but Rooney’s biggest contribution was to clear a header off the line late on.
