Real Madrid have announced the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi. Illarramendi was signed for €38.9 million on a 6-year contract with 'Los Blancos'. The midfielder held an emotional press conference earlier today and said: "I was on holiday when I heard about Madrid’s interest in me.They made contact and made a proposal. I love Real Sociedad, but I had to take a decision and obviously I’m excited about Real Madrid too." There have been numerous reports during the past few weeks saying Illarramendi will sign with the club and now he finally has. The former Real Sociedad midfielder will be presented tomorrow in front of the media at the Santiago Bernabéu Press Box as new Real Madrid player at 13:00 CET.
Florentino Perez denied the fact that Illarramendi will be a replacement for when Xabi Alonso decides to leave - hard to believe now.
