According to sports journalist @duncancastles, who in fact works for the Sunday Times, Goal.com, Sports Illustrated, and many other news outlets, Real Madrid want to keep Fabio Coentrão. They want to keep the Portuguese left-back so much that the Spanish giants have offered him a new contract to try and persuade him to stay. Fabio has been linked to a move away from the Bernabéu, after it had been confirmed by Carlo Ancelotti that the former Benfica man decided that he wants out.
This summer, Coentrão has been linked to numerous clubs including the likes Chelsea, AS Monaco, PSG, Benfica, and Tottenham. If the report is true, its hard to see that Coentrão will accept the contract extension. But at the end of last season, Fabio expressed to all that he felt “unwanted” by most at the club. Perhaps this can prove to Coentrão that he is valued and plays an important role in this squad.
In that same report by @duncancastles, it is stated that Pepe & Angel Di Maria will also remain at Real Madrid, despite strong interest from Manchester City and Arsenal respectively.
