Cristiano Ronaldo Has Been Named the World's Richest Footballer with a Worth of €210 Million

Cristiano Ronaldo has just beat his greatest rival, Lionel Messi, to another world prize – this time, the Real Madrid superstar has won the race to be the world's richest footballer with a value of £152 million (or €210 million).

Ronaldo tops the Goal Rich List for the second consecutive year and finishes €10 million ahead of the runner-up, Lionel Messi. Ronaldo's wealth has increased in part thanks to his on-field activities, as he helped Real Madrid to their tenth European Cup and picked up the FIFA Ballon d'Or.

Ronaldo's sponsorship deals – with the likes of Toyota, Samsung and Emporio Armani – added €25 million to his net worth, while his deal with Nike is the most lucrative and earns the Portuguese forward £14 million-per-year. His other projects include a property portfolio worth £30 million.

Ronaldo earns £14 million from Nike each year.
Messi was only €2 million away from Ronaldo in the 2014 list, but that gap has extended this year. As the face of the 2014 World Cup, Neymar comes in at third on the list, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney make up the top five.

The Goal Rich List is the result of industry experts working with specialists across the globe to detail a catalogue of investments by the world’s best-paid and financially-savvy players.
